The island Poel

The island Poel is after Rügen and Usedom the third largest island in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. You can reach it from mainland over a causeway. There are different protected landscapes and the island Langenwerder is a bird santuary. Poel is very suitable for bicycle rides.

The Salzhaff bird and plant sanctuary

Salzhaff between Wismar and Rerik is home to various protected plants and animals. It is accessible with trails, cycling tracks and bridle ways. Local artists invite passers-by to their ateliers at Wodorf, Stove, Klein Strömkendorf, Neu Nantrow and Vogelsang.

Natural Park Nossentiner-/Schwinzer Heide

This very large natural park extends over 32.000 hectares in the middle of the Lake Plateau of middle Mecklenburg. It hosts a diversity of species in a wilde habitat, such as sea eagles, cranes, numerous water birds and deers.
